6 Cozy Airbnb Cabins In Minnesota To Add To Your List

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve jumped onto Airbnb with excitement, looking to discover a new, cozy cabin to add to the ever-growing list of spots I’ve been meaning to check out in my home state. In fact, I started a Minnesota cabin wishlist on Airbnb about a year ago, so I could easily reference these great finds when I have a moment to get away for a long weekend.

But instead of just having them sit in my Minnesota cabin Airbnb wishlist, I thought I’d share the love with you so we can enjoy some of these cozy places together. As I slowly work my way through booking these, I’ll be sure to update this post with new details.

Here’s my curated roundup of Minnesota Airbnbs that I’d personally love to stay at for a long weekend retreat.

Charming Log Cabin – Backus, Minnesota

To me, this place looks like the quintessential up north abode nestled on Barrow Lake. It has a charming circa-1700 log cabin vibe, but the interior also holds a delightful surprise. A Twin Cities interior designer brightened the place with crisp white walls highlighted by the lovely pops of color in the fun artwork, rugs, and accessories scattered throughout.

It would be a perfect spot for a girls’ weekend! Plus, it’s only a three-hour drive from the Twin Cities, making it just far enough to feel like you’re getting away.

Tiny House On The Lake – Faribault, Minnesota

I love tiny houses! I found an adorable home in California, and now I’ve found another in Minnesota. This 267-square-foot home has a lovely deck that overlooks the lake and includes a grill, fire pit, kayaks, and a paddle boat for use in the spring, summer, and fall. And in those harsh Minnesota winters, this tiny home has heat to stay warm and toasty. Fun fact: It was featured in the show Tiny House Nation back in 2015.

Hilhaus A-frame – Crosby, Minnesota

Who doesn’t love a good A-frame? This custom-built cabin is located in Crosby and has a minimalist vibe that still feels cozy. An aesthetic I adore! The A-frame includes a back deck, which I’d designate as the spot to have coffee while listening to the birds in the morning. And on the cooler nights, you have the option of an electric fireplace inside or telling stories around the fire pit out back.

If you’re looking for some activities during your stay, this cozy A-frame cabin is just five minutes from the Cuyana Recreation Area, which is known for its abundance of hiking and biking trails.

This lovely cabin is nestled on Lake Ida and has everything you’d want for a cozy weekend getaway. It has a fully equipped kitchen, a large screened-in porch (bye-bye, mosquitos!), a private sand beach, a dock, and more. Plus, you can’t beat those lake views. It’s the perfect spot all year for a long summer weekend, fall bonfires, or even a winter getaway.

The Hawk Cottage – Lutsen, Minnesota

This cottage is for you if you’re looking for something that feels a bit more remote. Built in the 1930s, I love that it still feels like an old, rustic hunting cabin from that time, especially with that gorgeous cobblestone fireplace. And, of course, the cottage does have a few modern updates as well. It’s the perfect spot for a quiet weekend of reading (or writing) a book, playing games, and exploring everything the North Shore of Minnesota can offer.

Wild Pines A-Frame Cabin – Two Harbors, Minnesota

This lovely renovated 1970s A-frame is located just south of Beaver Bay, nestled on 40 acres of private land overlooking the great Lake Superior. Being out of the way makes this cabin a great getaway for some R&R and wildlife sightings. Plus, with the size of the property, you can find hiking trails throughout, so you never would need to leave.! And I mean, can you beat that view during sunrise and sunset?

Even though it feels a bit off-the-grid, the cabin has a fully-equipped kitchen with modern appliances, a smart TV, and a brick gas fireplace. Bonus: The A-frame has three outdoor decks and a year-round sunroom to take in all the north woods scenery.

BONUS: Vintage Cabin On Lake O’Brien – Crosslake, Minnesota

I visited this lovely 1950s cabin in mid-October, and it was everything I was hoping for in a fall getaway. Nestled under beautiful mature pines, the main cabin on the property has two bedrooms, a wood-burning stove, a living room, a small dining area, and a kitchen with all the appliances you’d need for a weekend up north.

Plus, it has a cozy guest cabin (called the Stow-A-Away) and a separate screened-in porch overlooking the lake that makes for the perfect coffee spot in the mornings. I loved going out there to read and listen to the loons singing. Oh, and did I mention there’s a sauna? And in the summer the little cabin comes with a large dock and pontoon to boot.
